In 1997 my parents knew something was wrong...in 1998 they announced to the family that my father had been diagnosed with early onset dementia of the Alzheimer's type at age 54.The last 10 years have been the hardest years of our lives.
They didn't have to be as hard as they were however. If we had of had more information on what to expect, where and how to find help...If we didn't feel so isolated, dealing with a disease that not even doctors could tell us much about, life could have been a lot easier, although it never would have been easy.
In 1998, I did a web search for the term 'Aricept' (today one of the most common dementia medications) and could not find a single web page that could give me any information on it. Now, on the web you can have the opposite problem, so many websites , but it can be so hard to find exactly what you are looking for. Thus this website and its links.
Using my decade of life experience, my aim is to provide you with a portal to some of the most relevant information on how to deal with the dementia experience. I've spent 10 years of my life looking for this information, now you can access it with the click of a button.
Best wishes to all,
N.S.
